BBC World Service Antarctic Midwinter Broadcast  The latest BBC World Service Antarctic Midwinter Broadcast was at 2130-2200 on Saturday 21 June 2025 with three frequencies directed to Antarctica: 5960 kHz via Dhabbaya, UAE; 9575 kHz via Ascension Island; and 12065 kHz via Woofferton, UK. Further details of the programme can be found at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07dsz97

KTWR Guam to close  The TWR Asia website on 4 June 2025 announced the following: "TWR’s global leadership unanimously decided to wind down operations and end broadcasts on Guam by Oct. 31, 2025. It's important to emphasize two vital points regarding this tough but necessary course of action. The decision to end TWR’s shortwave broadcasting from Guam was made to maintain operational sustainability, not to change ministry objectives in any way. TWR is not abandoning its listeners in Asia, many of whom depend on the biblical programming for evangelism, encouragement and discipling. We have initiated processes to transition 100% of shortwave programming to other outlets in the region, such as ministry friends Reach Beyond Australia and Far East Broadcasting Co. (FEBC) as well as commercial providers. We’ll also explore other platforms, including FM and AM broadcasting and digital streaming. Listeners will be advised about where they’ll be able to find our programs well before the transition takes place". LRA36 Antarctica update  On 26 May 2025, Glenn Hauser sent an enquiry to Adrián Korol of RAE concerning their current status: "We are still awaiting signals on 15476 from LRA36; it seems not to be appearing in 2025. Could you inform us that is happening, why the delay, or never again? Thanks, Glenn Hauser". His reply: "Hi Glenn. Thanks for your email first of all. Unfortunately, the 15476 USB (Collins HF80) equipment suffered an unrepairable fault in Antarctica and was returned to the Radio Nacional plant in Pacheco for repairs. The Armed Forces have also obtained similar equipment, which was also transported to Pacheco. Pacheco technicians have begun repair and adjustment work to ensure that at least one of these two devices is operational for LRA36. Due to weather conditions, transport from Pacheco to LRA36 is no longer possible until next October. Until then, we hope to repair the transmitter equipment and conduct test broadcasts from Pacheco. We will provide updates in the coming months. On the other hand, LRA36 continues to broadcast its program Sonidos de La Antártida on Saturdays, starting this past Saturday the 24th, via streaming on the RAE website and Radio Nacional. The program, although streaming, originates from LRA36. Messages on social media from LRA36, especially on Facebook and Instagram, requesting the LRA 36's prompt return to shortwave will be a welcome sign of support to consolidate and prioritize the return to 15476. I remain at your disposal. 73 Adrián". (Glenn Hauser, World of Radio IO Group, 27 May 2025; enquiry and reply translated from Spanish to English by GH)

Radio Onda  Radio Onda broadcasts in Brussels on DAB+, with the transmitter site located at the Finance Tower, in Botanique. With 2 kW of power, the transmitter covers the entire capital and surrounding areas. Radio Onda also broadcasts on shortwave and is a separate service from the one in Brussels. Having previously broadcast from a transmitter in the Netherlands, it now broadcasts from a  1 kW transmitter at Junglinster in Luxembourg on 6140 kHz. Other frequencies registered with the HFCC for A25 are 9530, 15190 and 25850 kHz. In the past there was no fixed programming and it was on the air according to the time available to the presenters. At certain times, Radio Onda may relay the Swiss-Catholic radio station, Radio Gloria (https://radiogloria.ch/). Manuel Méndez commented on 25 May 2025 that he asked, via email, the director of Radio Onda if they were transmitting from Luxembourg and he replied that, indeed, they have been broadcasting from Luxembourg for the last three weeks, relaying Radio Gloria, Switzerland, and that next week they will return with the usual Radio Onda programmes.

The Overcomer Ministry to end its radio broadcasts  Jose Jacob comments that as per the Wavescan DX programme, The Overcomer Ministry (Brother Stair) says it's ending its radio broadcasts. More details in Wavescan programme of next week. (posted to World of Radio IO Group by Jose on 10 June 2025); Update: According to Jeff White on Wavescan, the Overcomer Ministry says it will stop radio broadcasting on AM, FM and SW at the end of June. Can no longer be sustained as contributions have been dropping. It will continue on internet, and on a low-power FM under construction in Walterboro. (via Glenn Hauser, World of Radio IO Group, 13 June 2025); early indications on 1 July 2025 are that Overcomer broadcasts are still being heard, so it is a question of whether they will end soon or be phased out gradually.

Egyptian radio  Egypt's state broadcaster National Media Authority (NMA) Education Radio was observed signing-on 558 kHz at 0600 UTC, rather than 1000 UTC as most published sources have it.  The broadcast commenced with their Big Ben-like "Cairo carillon" preceding introductory announcement in Arabic followed by a heavily-abridged version of 'William Tell Overture' then Islamic devotions. Reception was 'fair' - undermodulated and somewhat noisy - via the TWR webSDR in Cyprus. (David Kernick, Interval Signals Online via MWlist, 19 June 2025)

Radio Free Africa  Regarding the recent absence of Radio Free Africa in Tanzania on 1377 kHz, I sent an email to the station on 3 June 2025 and a guy called Steve promptly replied: "Hello Tony, Just to confirm that we are still using 1377 kHz; however, maintenance work is currently being conducted. We expect to resume nominal power within the next two weeks. Best regards, Steve" (Tony Rogers)
