This is my page
for shortwave logs that I have made during my time as a DXer and shortwave listener,
which began in the mid-1970's. My logs for the current month can be found directly
below, whilst records dating back to the period between 1977-2014 and more
recently 2023/24 can be found in the links at the bottom of the page (please
see the explanation below regarding the gap between 2014-2023).
SHORTWAVE LOGS FOR JULY 2024
Receivers currently used are Eton E1 and TEF6686 and all stations were heard in Birmingham, England.
ALGERIA Ifrikya FM, Béchar, heard on 17600 kHz at 2050 UTC on 11 July 2024 with African songs, time pips 5+1 at 2100, then news in an African language (possibly Bambara?), back into songs at 2105. SIO 444.
Also heard on 17600 kHz at 2015 UTC on 12 July 2024 with lots of good African music and ID's; went abruptly off at 2159 as expected. SIO 444.
BULGARIA The Overcomer Ministry via Kostinbrod heard on 17900 kHz at 1600 UTC on 11 July 2024 with an old recording of a sermon by Brother Stair // 9400 kHz. SIO 343.
CHINA CGTN Radio, Kashi, heard on 9600 kHz at 2100 UTC on 15 July 2024 with news in English. SIO 444.
Chinese Firedrake Music heard on 9360 kHz at 2015 UTC on 15 July 2024, presumably to block RFA Chinese. SIO 343.
CNR-1 heard on 15740 kHz at 2120 UTC on 11 July 2024 in Chinese // 4800; not registered with HFCC so presumably here to block unheard Sound of Hope. SIO 444.
NORTH KOREA Voice of Korea, Pyongyang, heard on 15245 kHz at 1854 UTC on 12 July 2024 with closing announcement in English ending with "Goodbye, this is Pyongyang"; pause, then interval signal started at 1900 prior to opening announcement in Spanish. SIO 343.
PHILIPPINES Radyo Pilipinas via Tinang heard on 15190 kHz at 1815 UTC on 3 July 2024 with talk in Filipino, English ID "... Voice of the Philippines for 75 years ...". SIO 343.
ROMANIA Radio Romania International heard on 9790 kHz at 2200 UTC on 8 July 2024 with English to East Asia, starting with the ID, opening announcement and then into news in English. SIO 343.
THAILAND RFE/RL Azatlyk Radiosy via Udon Thani heard on 15255 kHz at 1515 UTC on 12 July 2024 with programmes in Turkmen // 9525 kHz (as confirmed using Novosibirsk KiwiSDR). SIO 343.
TURKEY Voice of Türkiye, Emirler heard on 13655 kHz at 0827 UTC on 1 July 2024. Came on air at 0827 with VOT theme tune interspersed with ID's in Italian, time pips at 0830 and start if today's half-hour programme; off at 0855. SIO 344.
Voice of Türkiye, Emirler heard on 17730 kHz at 0801 UTC on 1 July 2024. Tune-in to news in Turkmen, talks, Turkish music, URL announced at 0823, then VOT theme. SIO 333.
Voice of Türkiye, Emirler heard on 17740 kHz on 1010 UTC on 2 July 2024 with news reports in French. SIO 444.
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Voice of America heard on 9490 kHz at 2027 on 15 July 2024 with Yankee Doodle IS and ID's in English "This is the Voice of America, Washington DC, signing-on", then at 2130 "This is the Voice of America broadcasting to Africa. The following program is in Hausa"; programmes in Hausa followed, off at 2059. This is registered for São Tomé but may be from another site as transmissions from this USAGM relay station have been reportedly suspended prior to complete closure. SIO 444.
Radio Martí, Greenville NC heard on 11860 and 11930 kHz at 2115 UTC on 1 July 2024 with news reports in Spanish. 11860 with SIO 232 and 11960 with SIO 343.

The links below show logs for 1977-2014 and more recently those since October 2023 (the 1977-2014 compilation is in progress with logs being added from my original logbook in country order). There is a gap between 2014-2023 as there was a severe noise problem in the neighbourhood which restricted my listening from home. During this period my listening was mainly done using online SDR's, which is a great alternative if you cannot listen on your own equipment. However, my main interest is in keeping records using my own receivers, so whatever logs were made using SDR's are not shown in my all-time logbook.
